Individual Grants

We support Victorian children with a medically diagnosed chronic illness or disability by helping fund the purchase of mobility equipment, communication devices, medical and assistance dogs, wigs, and essential medical or health equipment.

Who can apply?

You are eligible to apply for an individual grant if the beneficiary lives in Victoria, is 17 years old or younger at the time the grant round closes, and has a disability or long-term health condition confirmed by a recognised health professional.

In addition, your total household income must be under $200,000 per year. This includes all sources of income, such as child support, rental or investment income, and any other earnings received by any parent or caregiver who is financially responsible for the beneficiary.

Previous recipients are eligible to apply for another grant two years after the date on their original grant approval letter.

What is eligible for application?

Applicants can request only one item per Individual Grant, which must be directly related to the child’s diagnosis and recommended by a GP or allied health professional.

Please note that the item specified in your application will be the main focus of the grant. If approved, no changes can be made to the listed item after the approval date. We encourage you to carefully consider the most relevant and beneficial item for the child’s needs before finalising your request.

Please download the Individual Grant Guidelines to view a list of example items that may be eligible for funding.

What is not eligible for funding?

  • Services or equipment that are not directly related to a child’s specific needs and are not considered medically or developmentally necessary.
  • Travel expenses, including public transport and fuel costs.
  • Warranties, insurance, maintenance, service contracts, batteries, and repairs.
  • Administrative fees or operational expenses.
  • Non-adaptive sports equipment or equipment that does not support special needs.
  • Expenses that have already been incurred or initiated before submission or written approval.
  • Incomplete application forms.
  • Equipment from non-Australian distributors that cannot be invoiced directly to the 52 Degree Foundation or services provided outside of Australia.
  • Construction or building projects (capital works).
  • Installation fees or costs.
  • Cars, car modifications, or electric bikes (e-bikes).
